I, Shannon Holmes, am your Gelman Library Student Liaison. This site is here to help you stay connected with the library, and to use all the resources and services that Gelman Library has to offer. I can also make sure that your voices are heard and represented to the library administration and they they have a means to get information to you, the students. Use this site for your library needs, and be sure to give feedback on what can be improved in Gelman and on the site!

Student Advisory Board

An integral part of the Student Liaison’s outreach program is the Gelman Library Student Advisory Board (GLSAB). This Board meets twice a semester to discuss library service issues affecting the GW student body. Key members of the library administration attend the Board meetings to seek student input on current policies and procedures and services from you, the students of GW.

New library initiatives and program ideas are often presented to the Board for initial student feedback. You know the drill - you can’t complain about something for which you didn’t make your opinion known. Whether it’s voting for president, or deciding to open a Starbucks in the library, the idea’s the same! Now’s your chance!

Past issues discussed by the GLSAB include:

- The opening of the Starbucks on the first floor - feeding your caffeine addiction and helping the library sustain a revenue source.
- Library furniture and comfort level - making sure there is cush for your tush and space to study.
- Library restroom climate - GLSAB fights for your bathroom comfort!

If you have opinions on the Gelman Library System’s policies, services or initiatives, this is the place for you! Boards are held twice each semester, so the time commitment is minimal. Contact Shannon Holmes, your Student Liaison, if you are intereted in attending a Board!

Who can attend?

Board meetings are open to ALL students, graduate and undergraduate. Upcoming meeting dates will be posted on the Student Liaison home page.
